Project description

The GRAAL project aims to strengthen environmental protection, boost sustainable prosperity and improve adaptation to climate change in the Atlantic regions.

It is based on building on and following up the results of previous projects supported by the Interreg Atlantic Area ProgrammeThe EU is also developing and implementing cooperation strategies that better integrate public policies and promote joint work between institutions.

Its actions include the creation of roadmaps, action plans and pilot projects, as well as improving coordination between European programmes linked to environmental policies in the Atlantic area. It is also working on the formulation of proposals for the future.

The project focuses on five priority areas:

  • Energy
  • Ocean pollution
  • Climate and risk management
  • Nature
  • Sustainable tourism

It addresses three key areas in a cross-cutting manner: digitalisation and innovation, circular economy and governance.

GRAAL's participants are 11 partners and 12 associated entities from different Atlantic regions. Its duration is 48 months.
