The Asturian Energy Foundation has published the report "Tourism and Energy in Asturias".which analyses the impact of tourism on energy consumption in the region and the opportunities to move towards a more sustainable model. The study highlights that mobility represents 70% of the sector's energy consumption, followed by accommodation with 20%, and complementary activities with 10%.
To boost sustainability, the report proposes measures such as the adoption of renewable energies in accommodation, the promotion of electric mobility and the use of energy-efficient technologies in the sector. It also recommends raising awareness among tourists and employees about the carbon footprint of the activity.
This analysis is intended to serve as a guide for Asturian tourism to adopt responsible energy practices, improving its competitiveness and reducing its environmental impact.
