FEDARENE announces the Roger Léron Award 2025

FEDARENE is proud to announce the eighth edition of the Roger Léron Prizewhich recognises exceptional people and projects driving the energy and climate transition at local and regional level across Europe. This year's award coincides with FEDARENE's 35th anniversary, a milestone that will be commemorated together with the nominees' achievements during a special event on 15 May 2025.

The Roger Léron Prize honours inspiring individuals and projects that are leading the climate and energy transition at local and regional level across Europe. Established in 2014 in memory of Roger Léron, sustainable energy pioneer and founder of FEDARENE, the award recognises efforts that drive lasting positive change.

From local energy agencies to public authorities and non-profit organisations, countless initiatives are striving to make energy cleaner and more efficient. The Roger Léron Prize recognises their strategic vision, leadership and impact, highlighting achievements that help shape a more sustainable future for all.


FEDARENE is committed to ensuring that its initiatives reflect the diversity and inclusiveness of the sustainable future they strive to shape. That is why the Roger Léron 2025 Award will feature four distinct categories:

Long Service Achievement Award*.: a tribute to people with more than 25 years of dedication to sustainable energy and climate action.

Innovative Action Award: recognition of innovative projects that promote climate and energy goals

Youth Leadership Award*: honouring the exceptional efforts of young leaders in their 20s and 30s.

Outstanding Achievement Award*: for those who excel in the field but do not fit into the other individual categories.

*For individual nominations (Career Achievement Award, Youth Leadership Award and Outstanding Career Achievement Award), self-nominations will not be accepted.
