The Royal Institute of Asturian Studies (Ridea) is organising this series of conferences and debates in which rigour, plurality and usefulness are paramount. All the speakers bring highly qualified points of view to the round tables that have been organised, from an economic, technical and business perspective.
The ecological transition is the great challenge facing the Asturian economy and, in particular, its industry. It is not a challenge exclusive to this region, but a strategic objective for the whole of Spain and the European Union as a whole, within the framework of a global climate emergency. The diversity of renewable sources, their production capacity, their economic impact and the efficiency of the system as a whole are the key issues that deserve calm reflection. Far from being a subject of interest only to experts, the issue affects the entire business fabric, families and everyone, as both active and passive subjects of this important transformation. In the case of Asturias, the peculiarities of industry, the true economic heart and driving force of activity and employment, are added to this, making the role of renewable energies even more important.
